Veterans Day
1. a public holiday held
on the anniversary of the end of World War I (November 11) to honor US veterans
and victims of all wars
2. Commemorated as
Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th
became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938.
3. . The restoration of
the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical
significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of
Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism,
love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
4. Veterans Day continues
to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it
falls.
5. Say “thank you.” It’s such a small, simple
gesture that is completely disproportionate to the sacrifice soldiers make for
us, but they really do appreciate it.
6.
7. It
is a reminder for us to always respect and pay tribute to our men and women in
uniform who served
8. Reflection: my feelings
about Veterans Day are that we should all be thankful for all the veterans that
fight for us. We need to be thankful because they leave their families for a
long time. They risk their lives just so they can fight for all of us.
Most people when they take this day off them would not show respect to them.
But they should do something because they are fighting for our freedom.
Honestly they take a lot of their rime fighting out there and they don’t get respect
that should change timely. We should help them and their family because they
were fighting along too not physically but mentally. This day is big and should
be well known by people living in the uses maybe people need to get more involved
in this. Also men did not only do this also women too.
